Shardul Thakur IPL Auction Price History
The Shardul Thakur’s journey is one that speaks of persistence and seeing opportunities when they come knocking. He was taken for INR twenty lakhs at base price by Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in the year of 2014.
In 2017, Thakur was unshaken and found a new home with Rising Pune Supergiant (RPSG). His international debut coincided with this stint and his performance did not go unnoticed by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who picked him up at the IPL auction in 2018 for INR 2.6 crore, marking the beginning of a fruitful partnership.
Thakur was clad in CSK’s yellow for four seasons from 2018 –2021, with the most unforgettable being that of 2021. He became an influential bowler, finishing joint third for the race of Purple Cap in IPL with an impressive tally of 21 wickets only in 16 matches. This outstanding performance would make sure he remains within the IPL arena. CSK is considered as the KING of IPL.
However, during the IPL draft, Thakur was purchased at an astonishing price of INR 10.75 crore by Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2022. He kept moving on after that and traded to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) before the start of the season in 2023.
Now Shardul Thakur finds himself back in familiar territory again as fate would have it. At a price of INR four crore, CSK reclaimed their two-time IPL champion at the 2024 auction (wins in 2018 and 2021 respectively).
